[Verse 1]
I’m mad at Disney, Disney
They tricked me, tricked me
Had me wishing on a shooting star
But now I’m twenty something
I still know nothing
About who I am or what I’m not

So call me a pessimist
But I don’t believe in it
Finding a true love’s kiss is bullshit

‘Cause I felt sad love
I felt bad love
Sometimes happy love (Happy love)
Turns into giving up (Giving up)
I felt hurt love
By the word love
What the hell is love supposed to feel like?
What the hell is love? What the hell is love?
What the hell is love supposed to feel like?

[Verse 2]
My fairy grandma warned me
Cinderella’s story
Only ended in a bad divorce
The prince ain’t sleeping when he
Takes his sleeping beauty
To the motel on his snow white horse

  5. I know this song is about love and what it's supposed to be but like. . . .this song hits me in a different place. When I was little me and my sister grew up only watching Disney movies and we wished to always be happy and never be sad. . . .well Disney didn't prepare me for the loads of trauma. For the anxiety I have. I was bullied for liking Disney by my step dad and my step mom. My sister was too (she has a different dad) and we would always ask the "shooting stars" for us to be happy again. I'm 17 and she is 16 and we have lots of trauma and anxiety about the world. We grew up thinking we were gonna be happy and get a happy ending when in reality. . . We got the ending the villains get. Sure Disney told us our step parents were gonna be mean and ugly, it prepared us for things like that. It prepared us to always be kind. It prepared us to try and stay happy no matter what. Well what happens when we can't be happy? What then? Do we cry until we find someone to kiss us better? Do we wait until that shooting star turns into our fairy godmother who will help us make our lives happier? We grew up and now. . . .the only thing that makes us happy, is falling to that child like head space and watching a Disney movie. Our grandmother did it. Our mom did it. Now we do it. Growing up on Disney was not the bad part. It was only ever watching Disney and not having context. Lessons on how to cope. We went from Cinderella and lilo and stitch to scary movies and nights full of screaming and headphones to block it out. That ripped away our innocence and I feel so bad for ranting here but this song kinda hits home in a different way to me. The love part does apply to both of us too tho. I've learned through countless toxic relationships that true love takes work and you don't need to stay with someone who sucks. My sister hasn't learned that yet. She stays with anyone who will say they love her in 2 seconds because she still thinks that true love is effortless but you need to build it up to keep is strong. I don't know why I'm saying all this but idk maybe someone will find it and sympathize or just have a cool story to tell someone like "hey this one comment said" kinda thing
